Last night I had the opportunity to go up to girls camp in Mantua. This camp was NOT what I remember 27 years ago.... These girls had running water, restrooms with flushing toilets, streams and tons of trees and shade. The theme was the "Biggest Gainer". Similar to the Biggest Loser they had various competitions and opportunities to 'gain' a testimony. I was invited to share my thoughts on strength and courage. That too, was an opportunity to travel down memory lane. My mom reminded my that my gift for my only brother at his missionary farewell was courage. I dusted off the old scrapbooks and read through the talk. It was a great start. I used a bit and then compared life to a game board. There is a beginning, but no known end. We know the direction to travel, however, our choices and agency determine our own destination. We all have Chances and need to contribute to our Community Chest. We compared Board Walk to the exciting, uplifting events and our trials and challenges to Baltic Avenue... recognizing the need to reprioritze, gather strength and rise above... I was sure to make sure that the "GO to jail... go directly to jail" was NOT an option for them :) After sharing expereiences and stories I was able to drive away with a friendly wave, hop into my air conditioned car and head home to my clean bed! That is the best way to camp!! :) It was a fun night, thanks girls!
