A Shot of Reality

Today I ventured out to the Layton Conference Center with the kids to receive the HINI shot. The hours were 10-7. I assumed that since it was a school/work day, the lines wouldn't be AS crazy as the Saturday clinic... silly me! We found a parking spot easily... we loaded up the stroller, bundled up with our umbrellas and began the walk... down, over, around, between the buildings, uphill in the snow...not really, just the rain. Many times the kids looked at me with 'that eye' and mentioned... "I can't believe you'd make us wait in the cold!" "Mom, don't you know that I am cold and wet?" By NO means am I comparing this situation to that of the pioneers... I just had a few moments this morning that strengthened my testimony of them. I just wanted the best for my kids, I wanted to protect them, I wished I'd been more prepared for the weather, I wished that I could make them warmer and more comfortable etc. etc. etc. How grateful I am to live in a day and age when my children can be protected from such evil illnesses. A little rain or cold is nothing! Let's hope for a healthy winter season.

p.s. don't tell the kids they have to go back in 9 months for the booster :)

I am sorry, but that is crazy! If I had seen that line, I would have left and got a hot chocolate instead! We haven't gotten shots - still debating if I want to go through the trouble. Anyway, looks like you had all sorts of fun!
